Sunday, December 21, 2025 @ 7:30 pm
Doors open at 7:00 pm

An Irish-Australian dual national, tenor saxophonist Daniel Rorke studied at the V.C.A. briefly before moving to The Sydney Conservatorium where he studied under the late great Gordon Brisker. He debuted for the MJC in 1998, co-leading a quintet with the late trumpeter Rod Mayhew. After that he moved overseas, spending the intervening years based in Dublin, Scandinavia and New York, including stints teaching jazz at Syracuse University in NY, and Dublin University. He has performed fairly regularly at The Vortex in London; in Scandinavia with Hilmar Jensson and Per Oddvar Johansen; recorded with Irish and American musicians on the U.S. label Orenda in the US with Irish musicans; and performed in the NYC Downtown scene with Oscar Noriega in the Naked Allies ensemble. He also recently toured internationally with Adam Nassbaum and Mark Egan.
Currently in Melbourne, he will perform his originals and some select standards with long-time associates Toby Mak (Trumpet), Danny Fischer (drums) and Ben Robertson (double bass).
