JAMES BOWERS TRIO & QUARTET

If you’re reading this, it’s likely because you are considering attending a performance by celebrated pianist/keyboard player James Bowers. Celebrated by whom? A great question. Coming up in Melbourne’s vibrant music scene has shaped Bowers’ compositional style, though his influences are wide ranging; from artists such as Brad Mehldau or Aaron Parks right through to the production work of Burial or the heart wrenching compositions of songwriters like James Blake or Madison Cunningham.

James will be performing two sets of music, the first will be drawing on his repertoire of original trio music joined by Sam Anning (bass) and Myka Wallace (drums). The second set will see long-time collaborator, friend and confidant Ben Harrison (trumpet) join him on stage to present music from his unreleased “My Quartet Album”, performing many of these works for the first time outside of the recording studio.
