MJC Presents: Remco Keijzer Quartet feat. Special Guest Daniel Gassin (Paris/Mel)

Originally hailing from Amsterdam, tenor saxophonist Remco Keijzer has called Melbourne home for many years, but has spent the past year interstate touring with his wife Alinta Chidzey (of Alinta & The Jazz Emperors fame, and currently lead of the musical Moulin Rouge).

This concert sees him reuniting with Paris-based expatriate pianist Daniel Gassin who has returned here for an extended stay. Joined by Chris Hale on acoustic bass guitar, and Darryn Farrugia on drums, their music is a dynamic collection of modern creative jazz, reminiscent of legendary figures like John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner, Chris Potter and Brad Mehldau.

With a rich blend of Australian and European influences, their offering a fresh take on the jazz genre will be delivered with high-energy.
