MJC Presents: The Mouth

Saxophone virtuoso Julien Wilson and percussionist Ray Pereira explore a fresh approach to improvisation and groove in THE MOUTH.

The Mouth perform original tunes based on rare Afro Cuban, African and Sri Lankan grooves where harmony and melody weave around interlocking polyrhythms. Interesting and innovative music that you can dance to or listen to.

The Mouth is an off shoot of the Tongue & Tooth Collective featuring Ray and Julien and Cuban percussionist Juan Carlos Allende which performed to full houses at the Jazz Lab a number of times earlier this year. Emerging young musicians Quinn Knight on drumkit, Robbie Belchamber on guitar and Ashleigh Howell on bass join Ray and Julien in The Mouth for this gig. Juan Carlos Allende will be a special guest for this performance.
