NICK HAYWOOD QUARTET
Sunday, April 20, 2025 @ 7:30 pm
Doors open at 7:00 pm

Nick Haywood has been at the forefront of jazz and improvised music in Melbourne and then Hobart for almost 40 years (including a long association with the late Allan Browne) and has constantly searched for new pathways for self-expression and musical dialogue. In recent years he has divided his time between Melbourne and Prague, in the Czech Republic, where he has been developing new repertoire and approaches to improvisation. This new quartet brings together four musicians from four generations in bassist Nick Haywood, pianist Tony Gould, drummer Kyrie Anderson, and trumpeter Eugene Ball—each with their own distinct approach to making music. With a deep respect for the tradition and a playful curiosity for where it can go next, their sound is all about conversation, spontaneity, and connection. There’s no agenda here—just four musicians coming together to explore, listen, and respond in the moment. They bring warmth, energy, and a sense of adventure to everything they play.Â
