French gypsy swing ensemble La Mauvaise Réputation is returning to the Jazzlab for two sets of upbeat jazz manouche and glorious chanson française.
Featuring Paul Gillett (vocals, rhythm guitar), Salvatore Greco (accordion), Enzo Ruberto (double bass) and Adam Russo on lead guitar, the group have kept the momentum going since the launch of their 2023 album ‘Live at OzManouche’ and have been performing regularly around town. Join them for a Saturday afternoon of highlights of 20th century French music including the hot rhythms of Django Reinhardt, the iconic anthems of Piaf, Montand and Trenet, and the 1960s provocations of enfant terrible Serge Gainsbourg.
La Mauvaise Réputation have performed at festivals, jazz clubs and high-profile events across Australia including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Brisbane Festival, OzManouche and the Museum & Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
