MJC Presents: Diane Peters/Tamara Murphy Duo (Italy/Aus)

On a visit from Italy, Diane Peters (harp and voice) reunites in a duo performance with Tamara Murphy (double bass) to perform a program of jazz-inspired originals and Afro American grooves and improvisations, inspired by the styles of Alice Coltrane and Anouar Brahem.

When based in Melbourne in the late 1990s Peters recorded the self-titled album by her quintet, Archaeopteryx, in 2000, and performed with Mark Simmonds’ band. Since relocating to Italy, she has been involved with various projects, including Cafeamaro (harp and electronica). When touring around Europe, she has often performed in the duo format with some outstanding double bass players, including Marc Abrams, Danillo Gallo, and Yuri Goloubev.

The subtlety and unique combination of these two string instruments promises to produce a memorable aural experience.
