MJC Presents: Niran Dasika (Solo) + Voyage – Album Launch

Voyage’s critically-acclaimed members, vocalist Tom Barton, guitarist Diego Villalta and pianist Nathan Liow transcend their diverse musical backgrounds of jazz, electronic and experimental musics with spellbinding incursions into real-time sonic sculpture, displaying masterful instrumental command and seamless ensemble presence. Each Voyage performance is a microcosm of the reaches of the human experience, delving bravely into the mystical unknown and punctuated by eruptions of transcendental awe and beauty. Tonight they are launching their debut album. An opening set will feature the solo project of trumpeter Niran Dasika, whose work encompasses jazz, free improvisation and electronic music. Niran’s live solo performances augments his distinctive, etherial trumpet sound with delay, looping and live processing to create mesmeric, hypnotic patterns underneath his lyrical trumpet playing. Niran’s recent releases “Endless Spring, Infinite Summer” and “Assorted Drone Music Vol. 1-3” have explored an expanding sonic world of synthesisers, drum machines and lo-fi electronica.
