Catron Trio is the project of Leo Laddin-Catron, Charlie Smith and Max Ingles, playing and creating music that resonates with each member. The trio aims to create a rich sound leaning into modern jazz with the bones of traditional jazz, focusing on dynamics and tension through their music. The night will have specific features of horn players, an intimate trio setting and tunes never heard live before to celebrate the release of their debut album, “3 Seasons”
The trio study Jazz and Improvisation together at Melbourne university and have been guided and mentored by several critically acclaimed musicians including Andrea Keller, Sam Anning, Yunior Terry, Barney McAll, and more. The album is a combination of each member’s interests and inspirations as musicians, focusing on a curated repertoire of original music.
