Christopher Rozakeas is an emerging trombonist and composer from Melbourne, Victoria. A sought-after instrumentalist in the local scene, he specialises in traditional and contemporary jazz styles, strongly informed by influences from his home city and NYC.
Chris is the recipient of various accolades including the Geoffrey Whitelaw Monash Brass scholarship and being a two-time James Morrison scholarship finalist. He’s collaborated with Australian and international jazz luminaries including Kristin Berardi, Shannon Barnett, Ingrid Jensen, Antonio Sanchez and Linda May Han Oh, as well as performed with the Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2026.
CITIES OF CELADON is Chris’ latest musical undertaking in the form of an intimate horn-focused ensemble, spotlighting the interplay of sonorous single-line melodies and counterpoint-driven storytelling. The titular suite, which explores Chris’ upbringing as the son of an immigrant family, will be debuted alongside select favourites from his personal heroes such as Joel Ross and Immanuel Wilkins.
