James Muller Quartet (Adelaide)

Adelaide-based guitarist and composer James Muller is one of the most acclaimed musicians in Australian jazz. He was co-winner (with Stephen Magnusson) of the 2000 National Jazz Guitar Award at Wangaratta, won the 2000 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album, and received the 2004 Freedman Jazz Fellowship, followed by an Australia Council Fellowship in 2012.
Muller has released six albums as a leader and has recorded on innumerable projects in Australia and New York, many in collaboration with Sean Wayland. Based in Sydney from 1996, he returned to Adelaide in 2016 to teach at the Elder Conservatorium.
While his touring from Adelaide has been limited in recent years, Muller toured in April with The Exhibits project and appeared in October at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival performing with Linda May Han Oh.
Widely regarded as one of the most exciting and inventive soloists in Australian jazz, Muller is joined for this performance by long time collaborators: Ben Vanderwal (drums), Sam Anning (bass), and Mat Jodrell (trumpet).
