The Kyle Chenoweth Quintet formed out of an exploration during his Honours year at the Victorian College of the Arts into how visual stimuli can inspire and shape musical ideas. The band released their debut album Perspectives, featuring Chenoweth’s original compositions, launched last November at The JazzLab in Melbourne, and has since taken the project to Adelaide (COMA), performed across Melbourne, and continued developing new collaborative and original work.

The group will present new compositions by Chenoweth alongside music from Perspectives, further expanding on the sound that defines the project, with a contemporary approach informed by artists such as Immanuel Wilkins and Barney McAll.

The quintet features Chenoweth alongside some of Melbourne’s most exciting emerging musicians: Oscar Bruten (tenor saxophone), Miro Lauritz (piano), Jack Smythe (double bass), and Miles Farnan (drums).

Having graduated with First Class Honours in Jazz Performance from the University of Melbourne in 2023 and has performed with the Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2024 and 2025, appearing alongside internationally acclaimed artists such as Remy Le Boeuf, Wayne Bergeron, Gordon Goodwin, and James Morrison.
