Steve Sedergreen & friends with special guest James Ryan, saxophone (Sydney)

Steve Sedergreen returns to the JazzLab with a lineup built on history, chemistry and serious musicianship.
A central figure of the Melbourne jazz scene for decades, Sedergreen brings his unmistakable touch to the piano alongside James Clark (bass) and Andrew Swann (drums) — a rhythm section grounded in feel and experience. Out front, Jacki Gaudion delivers vocals shaped by timing, phrasing and a deep connection to the blues, joined by Ash Gaudion on saxophone and Toby Mak on trumpet.

This is a band of players who know the language — moving between swing, soul and contemporary jazz with ease, and with the kind of interplay that only comes from years on stage.

The second set will feature additional horn players, local favourites Gianni Marinucci (trumpet), Dave Palmer (trombone), Carlos Barbaro (saxophone) and from Sydney, special guest, the exhilarating James Ryan (saxophone & flute). This will be a night of exceptionally spirited, engaging and entertaining jazz.
